Thanks for your detailed and balanced analysis of the platforms, Renee.

On one issue that's important to me, religion in schools, I would add (not in disagreement - just additional comment) that students already have the right to pray in school, and many of them often do. They do not have the right to prayer during instructional time, any more than they have the right to engage in other non-relevant activities during instructional time. Schools may not prohibit prayer in school when students are on their own time, and schools must allow religious student groups the same access to facilities and support as they give to non-religious student groups. But, I would expect that schools should not organize, initiate, or endorse any religious practice. That, I believe, is unfortunately the aim of many people who raise this issue, and who likely helped insert it into the GOP platform.
