Thanks for posting this detailed response, Renee. I'm glad that you're on the mend, and able to take the time to provide your perspective on these matters.

Regarding use of National Board standards, it strikes me as a bit inconsistent to talk about elevating teaching without including any reference to or use of the best existing standards we have.

How often have we heard Duncan (and Obama) say the right things about teachers (elevate the profession, use multiple measures), only to see policies that do neither?

I intend to go into these and other aspects of ESEA in even more detail soon. This is an important discussion, and we all need to find a way to be part of it at some level.

The Administration appears to be reaching out to teachers (I'm not sure yet about other groups)for discussion of the Blueprint in various venues. I hope what's being said in those will be posted or shared somewhere.
