Do you think wikis and blogs would work with elementary kids? What are the building blocks on the elementary level to get them ready for these exciting tools? My students don't have access to computers at home and their parents are very nervous and worried about their children having access to the internet (or worse- someone on the internet having access to them.) How does this translate to low income students needs?

Bill,

How wonderful that you're teaching your students to become involved in cutting-edge technology! If you are interested in using some real-time web collaboration software, I would like to invite you to try Yugma. We're absolutely free when connecting up to 10 people with the host, and you can share desktops, recording and uploading your sessions to distribute or watch later. This tool could be very useful in education!

To find out more about Yugma, visit the website at http://www.yugma.com

Kudos, Bill, for your process leadership. Congrats to your students for accepting your invitation to use advanced tech in class. What insights can you share about academic results from these ventures?

Hello,

My name is Elvine from Pageflakes and I recently came across your Blog, in search of teachers who incorporate technology within the classroom.

I would like your honest feedback of our “Educational Start Page”, dedicated to teachers around the world. (http://teacher.pageflakes.com)

Over the past couple of months - and with the help of the educational community- we have created a start page with a focus on educational tools, news and features. Actually, you are one of the first to see it and I am hoping that you can help us to improve it further. I’d be thrilled if you could go to http://teacher.pageflakes.com and explore it.

The “Teacher Edition” is based on the original Pageflakes technology, offering sharing and publishing options, adding your own content, customizing the page, changing the layout – all for free and even without signing up. In addition we have customized the gallery (click on the big, golden button at the upper right hand corner) and populated it with educational tools and news. We have also created a default page setup (the one that you see when you first check out the site).

There is more to come in the future and I am hoping that you can actively help us to improve the experience. Your questions, ideas and suggestions are more than welcome. I am happy to send more background information and screenshots. I am also available for a call if you want to discuss in more detail.

Thanks for your time and support.

And “Congratulations!” as a Finalist in the Edublog Awards. The best of luck to you!

Best Regards,

Elvine
