Great post! As a superintendent who often finds himself a "singleton" in our district, I also find Twitter valuable for leadership development and learning about learning.

Nancy Blair

Bill,
Another place to find teachers in similar content areas is http://twitter4teachers.pbworks.com/
Teachers need to add themselves to the wiki so other teachers can find them.

Chris Jakicic

Thanks, Bill, I love reading your ideas.and learning how to use the tech stuff I'm not familiar with.

Pauline

Hi Bill.
I'm a student from Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class at the U. of South Alabama. In today's world of education, how critical would you say having a PLC? I'm still working on my PLN, but I'm failing to see the importance of it. I think that most of the time when people have questions, they just research and read blogs and websites and so forth when the question arises. I could be wrong, of course. I know that's how I think.
I'm following a few people on twitter for my EDM class, but again, I'm failing to see why it's so important. Maybe you can explain it better?
Even though this blog was short, it seemed very critical about pointing out these PLC networks.

Charlie A. Roy

Thanks Bill for this post on PLNs.

Bill, thank you for this post. As an Instructional Technology Specialist I have to support teachers in all content areas and reading tweets from these hashtags will help me with technology integration ideas.

Bill Ferriter

No sweat, all y'all.

Glad that the post resonated with you and looks like it will help in your work.

Just a reminder: Hashtags are constantly changing, so be on the lookout for new conversations. You can often spot new hashtags by browsing the conversations that I've spotlighted here.

If you see a new hashtag that you've never heard before, click it and see where it takes you.

Rock on,
Bill

Ok, I love your ideas, but what about foreign language teachers....any hashtag suggestions? Other ideas how to connect? I am new at this.

Chris Jakicic

Just did an assessment workshop in Colorado today and shared this blog with some teachers wanting to connect with other singletons writing cfas. What a great resource! Thanks, Bill.

Kevin R. Biles, Principal

Great post, Bill. One of the menu driven staff development opportunities that we've given our staff this year is based on 21st Century Learning/PBL and integrates Twitter and Diigo. Needless to say your post is most timely. The staff in our group has set up Twitter accounts as well as TweetDeck. Our group is at the infancy stage and would welcome your suggestions for elementary hashtag searches for our "singletons".

Christmas comes but once a year. But when it comes it brings good cheer.

Michelle Baldwin

Thanks for this post! As a singleton in my building, I often feel left out of the conversations, and I only get to meet with my district Music PLC once a month. Without digital networks, I would be really frustrated!

I appreciate your point of view on technology and its use in the classroom. I struggle with my tech department about how to give students the freedom to use it effectively in the classroom!
