Thanks Bill for the mention! Your willingness to share your knowledge and experience comes across in all that you do, but especially in your writing. That I think makes working with you a great thing.

For English teachers specifically (although I think it could apply more widely), I posted my notes from a recent NCTE session on publishing in professional journals

I think writing articles for journals can be a nice intermediate step between blog posts and a book.

This is great information for all potential writers! You do a beautiful job of breaking down the very much intimidating process into manageable chunks. At the same time, I appreciate your honesty that it takes time, patience, and a thick skin to break into the world of published authors.

Hey Bill, you're very kind. I remember that article we co-authored way back in the early years of the 21st century - for Threshold mag, wasn't it? I had no doubt then you were a natural. Of course, one only becomes a natural after 1000s of hours of writing, as you say.

But the unique personal voice was there, even then, and that's the component that's pretty hard to develop purely with exercise. It requires a willingness to not be afraid to say what you feel and tell what you know. Simple secret to writing success. Keep it up, pal!

Reidun Schreiner

This information was very helpful and enlightening. I am currently in school majoring in elementary education and I am excited and motivated to become apart of the intellectual community of educators. I have recently started my own blog and you have become a role model for me as I look forward to my future career.

Very cool, Reidun!

Glad to hear that content that I share resonates with you....and keep writing! Blogging has made me more reflective as a practitioner....and being a reflective practitioner is never a bad thing.

Rock on,
Bill
