Interesting insights here –I love it when I can take something from another profession and apply it to my own teaching practice. I think one very important part to helping ALL our students succeed lies in what you said about quantifying what we know about students (instead of making assumptions) and making the process of gathering and analyzing that information relatively simple. Less time spent gathering and analyzing data and making beautiful spreadsheets and graphs means more time intervening with those students who need the help.

I'm curious. Can you provide an example of an APGAR type measurement for learning teams?

Breathing, moving, color=living student who still needs our time and attention despite his, or his family's apparent distrust of authority due to socioeconomic status, racial or religious background or even previous failure.
